A remotely operated robot designed for firefighting and interventions in hazardous environments will be tested on 14 May at the Black Sea Defense, Aerospace and Security exhibition in Bucharest, during a demonstration organised by Hyundai Rotem in cooperation with the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU).

According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, the live demonstration will showcase Hyundai Rotem's remotely operated firefighting robot carrying out a series of emergency response missions, including extinguishing fires in hazardous environments, remote reconnaissance, obstacle navigation and operations in areas unsafe for human personnel.

'The event is expected to highlight the growing role of unmanned ground systems in modern emergency response operations, particularly in industrial fires, chemical incidents, urban disaster zones and other high-risk scenarios where rapid response and operator safety are critical,' the press release said.

Representatives of Hyundai Rotem and Romania's General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations will observe the robot's operational capabilities in real field conditions, underscoring the importance of international cooperation in advancing innovative public safety technologies, the source added.

'Hyundai Rotem remains committed to developing advanced robotic systems that support first responders and enhance operational safety in hazardous environments. This demonstration in Romania reflects our commitment to strengthening cooperation with international emergency response organisations and to delivering reliable unmanned solutions for mission-critical operations,' a company representative said.

The firefighting robot presented by Hyundai Rotem is designed to assist emergency personnel through remotely controlled fire suppression capabilities, real-time situational awareness and high mobility across difficult terrain.

According to the company, the platform can operate in environments exposed to extreme heat, smoke, structural instability or hazardous materials, helping reduce risks for frontline responders.

The demonstration will also provide an opportunity for technical exchanges and discussions on future cooperation in emergency response robotics and disaster management technologies, the statement added.

Hyundai Rotem is a global defence and mobility solutions company specialising in railway systems, defence platforms and next-generation robotic technologies. It develops advanced unmanned systems and mission-support solutions designed to enhance operational effectiveness and safety in defence and public sector applications.
