Bucharest Organ Fest Cantus Ecclesiae to take place 9 to 24 May
Internationally acclaimed artists, outstanding Romanian performers and talented young musicians will participate in the sixth edition of one of Romania's most prestigious festivals dedicated to organ music, the Bucharest Organ Fest Cantus Ecclesiae, which will take place from 9 to 24 May at representative cultural and religious venues in Bucharest and the surrounding area.
The event is organised by the Enarmonia Association.
According to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Thursday, this year's edition promotes dialogue between the organ, piano and harpsichord, as well as collaboration with choirs and vocal soloists, through charity concerts, themed recitals, educational projects and improvisation sessions.
Concerts will be held at the Romanian Athenaeum, Saint Joseph Cathedral, the National University of Music in Bucharest, Sacre-Coeur Church, the Italian Church, the Evangelical Church C.A., the Labirint Adventist Church, the Monastery of the Discalced Carmelite Fathers in Ciofliceni and the Saint Agnes Congregation Jesu Monastery in Popesti-Leordeni.
Confirmed international artists include Vincent Dubois (France), titular organist of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, Andreas Jost (Switzerland), professor at the Zurich University of the Arts and organist of Grossmunster Zurich, Magdalena Moser (Austria), professor of organ at the Kunst-Universitat Graz, Paolo Oreni and Alessandro Marangoni (Italy), presenting an organ and piano recital, Roman Perucki (Poland), organist and specialist in Baroque music, Kecskes Monika and Deak Laszlo (Hungary), an organ and harpsichord duo, and soprano Elena Mosuc (Switzerland/Romania).
The international guests will be joined by Romanian artists including Steffen Schlandt, Ursula Philippi, Marcel-Octav Costea, Razvan Rados, Maria-Luisa Antal, Eduard Antal, Amalia Erdos, Erich Turk, Daniel Nesimuca, Serafim-Bernard Mihoc, Geanina-Adina Salagean, Lukas Hellmann, Kristian Luptovits, Razvan Pasca, Zsolt Gergely, Emoke Vigh, Iosif Roca, Ioanita Mihalycsek, Lucia Deliu, Izabela Maria Calina, Jocelyn King, Marilena Georgiana Mihai, Anastasia Popova, Marta Popescu, Miruna Preda, Tina Roman, Maria-Magdalena Strugaru, Diana Rosca, Cosmin Manole, Nicu Rusu and Mihai Scarlat.
The festival programme also includes masterclasses for pupils and students led by Andreas Jost and Paolo Oreni, organ, piano and harpsichord recitals featuring works by Vivaldi, Bach, Bruhns, Franck, Mendelssohn, Ravel, Durufle, Vierne and Hassler, Night of the Organs, a concept concert performed by Kecskes Monika and Deak Laszlo, the Gala of the 'Ada Ulubeanu' Competition Laureates and the charity concert 'Copii pentru copii' ('Children for Children'), organised in partnership with the Evangelical Church C.A. Bucharest, the Innocents Foundation and the 'Dinu Lipatti' National College of Arts.
