US Embassy: Romania second-largest delegation at SelectUSA Summit
Romania sent the second-largest delegation from the EU to the SelectUSA Investment Summit to strengthen bilateral economic ties, a delegation led by US Ambassador to Bucharest Darryl Nirenberg, the diplomatic mission informed.
According to the quoted source, the Romanian delegation included representatives of more than 35 companies from various sectors, reflecting the strong potential for the development of economic relations between the United States and Romania.
'Romanian companies are making landmark investments in the United States, underscoring this new chapter in bilateral economic relations. One United Properties, a major investor and real estate developer, has announced it is increasing the planned investment for its first residential project in the US to 100 million dollars,' the release said. The company continues to expand in the United States - its first market outside Romania - by acquiring land for a development project in Nashville, Tennessee.
Bravo International Group, a Romanian manufacturer of metal roofing and cladding, announced it will launch its first production facility in the US in Dallas, Texas, and a second in Detroit, Michigan, as part of a 30 million dollar investment, the US Embassy also informed.
Ambassador Nirenberg said that Romania's significant participation in SelectUSA confirms the strength and potential of the bilateral economic partnership. The US high official also mentioned the numerous opportunities for Romanian companies which the US market can provide. He said it had been a great pleasure to engage with so many entrepreneurs who were building the future of trade relations between the US and Romania, adding that those growing commercial ties created jobs and investment opportunities in both countries and strengthened their historic strategic partnership.
The SelectUSA Investment Summit, which took place from 3-6 May, aims to facilitate business investment by connecting thousands of investors, companies, economic development organizations (EDOs), creating opportunities to grow through investing in the United States.
The SelectUSA is a US government programme coordinated by the Department of Commerce, designed to facilitate and promote investment in the US in order to create jobs, drive economic growth and enhance US competitiveness.
Since its establishment, the SelectUSA Summit has supported thousands of clients, including EDOs, domestic and international companies, and has facilitated client-verified investments worth more than 400 billion dollars, supporting over 270,000 jobs in the US and its territories. The SelectUSA Investment Summit has generated new investment projects worth more than 256 billion dollars in the US, supporting over 130,000 jobs nationwide.
