Bucharest Fashion Week begins on Tuesday in Bucharest
Bucharest Fashion Week, an event which brings together Romanian and international designers, young creators, industry professionals and a public interested in the new directions of contemporary textile art, will take place in Bucharest, from Tuesday to Saturday, the Culture Ministry announced on its Facebook page.
Organised under the umbrella of the Council of Fashion Designers of Romania, with the support of the National Chamber for Italian Fashion and Romania's Culture Ministry, with the National Museum of Art of Romania as the main nucleus, this year's edition proposes a programme which goes beyond the runway and focuses on education, professional dialogue, international openness and inclusion.
This year edition of Bucharest Fashion Week gathers designers from Romania, Poland, Hungary and the Republic of Moldova, confirming the regional openness of the event and the interest for collaboration among creative scenes in Central and Eastern Europe.
An important place in the programme is represented by the Next Generation component, dedicated to the new generation of designers. Conferences, workshops and meetings on the first day bring to the forefront topics that concern not only creativity, but also building a solid professional path for young people who what to find their place in this industry. The Next Generation Conference, hosted by the Bucharest University of Economic Studies through Bucharest Business School, brings together students, young designer and industry professionals for talks about essential topics in the development of a fashion brand: creative identity, business strategy, retail and global context of the industry.
The programme also includes the Sightless Fashion project by glissando.pov, a multisensory moment dedicated to people with visual impairments, showing that access to cultural experiences can be designed more thoughtfully, more openly and closer to people, including in areas where, seemingly, everything appears to rely exclusively on visuals. The concept proposes an alternative way of perceiving fashion, in which each outfit is translated into a sonic universe built from the materials and textures of the garments, inviting the public to explore fashion beyond its visual dimension, through sound, space and movement. The event is scheduled on 26 March, from 13:00, in the Throne Hall within the National Museum of Art of Romania.
Alongside the fashion shows on the main stage, the programme also includes new formats, professional meetings and projects dedicated to the creative community, in a framework that seeks to connect contemporary creation, the public and new generations of creators.
Bucharest Fashion Week is the first international fashion event in Romania, dedicated to promoting local designers and turning 'Made in Romania' into an internationally recognised label.
