Trade exchanges between Romania and Germany up 5.7% to 42.6 billion euros in 2025
Trade exchanges between Romania and Germany totalled EUR 42.6 billion last year, marking a 5.7% increase, the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania) informs on Tuesday.
Romania thus maintained its 17th place among Germany's trading partners.
According to data obtained by AHK from the Destatis (Federal Statistical Office of Germany), imports from Romania amounted to EUR 19.8 billion (+9.2%), while Germany's exports to Romania reached EUR 22.8 billion (+2.8%).
As regards trade in services between the two countries, this totalled EUR 6.8 billion.
Germany's revenues from the export of services stood at EUR 2.7 billion (+10% compared with 2024), while expenditure on the purchase of services (imports of services) amounted to EUR 4.1 billion (-1.9% compared with 2024).
According to the press release, the positive development of German-Romanian economic relations once again proves that the two countries maintain close, partnership-based economic ties. This should be viewed in the context of current global challenges: amid turbulence in traditionally strong export markets for German companies, such as the United States, resilient supply chains and production locations in Europe are gaining importance.
'The local-for-local principle is becoming increasingly important for German companies, as they are focusing more and more on regional markets and partners in order to strengthen supply security and reduce risks. In this context, Romania is increasingly becoming an investment location of interest,' said Sebastian Metz, Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of AHK Romania, as quoted in the press release.
AHK Romania is the official representative of the German economy, established in 2002, with over 700 members, providing companies with an important platform for networking and the exchange of information and experience.
