The only film festival in Europe dedicated entirely to Roma culture, the RROMA Film Festival, has been nominated in the Best Festival category at the Culture Awards 2025.

The public can vote for the event at https://premiileinculturabrasov.fillout.com/2025, according to a press release issued on Friday.

The Culture Awards 2025 aim to provide public recognition for the most valuable cultural and artistic events, productions and initiatives held between 1 January and 31 December 2025. The awards gala will take place on 3 March.

Actor, producer and writer Michael J. Chaplin, the son of Charlie Chaplin and grandson of playwright Eugene O'Neill, was the festival's guest of honour at the 2025 edition. He attended, together with his entire family, the third edition of the RROMA Film Festival, held in Brasov and Augustin between 5 and 7 September.

Michael John Chaplin took part in the national premiere of the film Spirit of the Tramp, directed by Carmen Chaplin, which explores the Roma origins of the great artist Charlie Chaplin. The festival also paid tribute to renowned composer Eugen Doga with a screening of the film The Gypsy Camp (Satra), attended by his daughter, Viorica Doga.

The competition featured short films inspired by Roma culture from Poland, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Bulgaria, Mexico, Spain and Romania, including productions that have won awards at international festivals.

The festival has been organised by the CRN Cultural Association since 2023. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Petronius Craiu; EN - writing by: Simona Iacob)
