The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued on Wednesday new Code Yellow and Code Orange warnings for snowfall and wind intensifications, valid throughout the day in 25 counties and in Bucharest.

Thus, between 10:00 and 16:00, a Code Orange warning for snowfall and significant snow cover will be in force in Ilfov County and the Municipality of Bucharest. Snow will continue to fall in the warned areas and by the end of the warning interval the total snow cover will exceed 50 cm.

A second Code Orange for severe weather will be valid on Wednesday between 10:00 and 23:00 in the counties of Calarasi, Ialomita, Braila, Tulcea and Constanta, where it will snow and locally a significant layer of snow will accumulate, generally 20 to 25 cm thick, equivalent to 20 to 25 litres of water per square metre. The wind will intensify strongly with gusts of 60 to 80 km per hour, there will be temporary severe blizzard conditions, drifting snow and visibility below 50 metres.

According to meteorologists, a Code Yellow for blizzard conditions and snow cover will be in force between 10:00 and 23:00 in the southern half of Moldavia, south-eastern Transylvania, north-eastern Muntenia, as well as in the Southern and Curvature Carpathians, where visibility will be reduced below 100 metres. The wind will intensify with speeds of 50 to 70 km per hour and in the high mountain area gusts will reach 70 to 90 km per hour.
