The Romanian Graphics Exhibition - BRANCUSI 150 will open simultaneously in Targu Jiu and in 20 other countries across six continents on 19 February, marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Gorj-born sculptor.

'BRANCUSI 150 is a cultural and artistic project dedicated exclusively to celebrating 150 years since the birth of the great sculptor Constantin Brancusi and consists of a series of exhibitions opened simultaneously on 19 February 2026 in 21 countries across six continents: Africa - Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Senegal; North America - Canada, United States of America; South America - Uruguay; Asia - China, India; Europe - Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, Türkiye; Oceania - New Zealand. The project presents works created using traditional engraving techniques by 29 contemporary Romanian artists,' according to a release of the 'Constantin Brancusi' National Museum in Targu Jiu.

The event is organised by the 'Constantin Brancusi' National Museum in Targu Jiu, the 'Inter-Art' Foundation in Aiud and the Gorj County Council, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture.

The exhibition held in Targu Jiu at the 'Constantin Brancusi' National Museum headquarters will open at 17:00.

'The idea emerged from a long-standing collaboration we have with the 'Inter-Art' Foundation in Aiud (...) We thought that for Brancusi's 150th anniversary we should organise a special event and we came up with the idea of organizing an exhibition to open simultaneously in several locations on 19 February, the great sculptor's birthday, at 17:00. Several foreign artists were contacted (...) and this idea came to fruition. The same exhibition will be held in 21 countries across six continents; it is a printmaking exhibition with Romanian artists, there are 29 contemporary Romanian artists who produced 21 copies of the prints, so in each country the exhibition will be original, in a limited number signed by the artists. We considered it most important to hold events at Brancusi's home in the Constantin Brancusi Year, to try to bring people here, but equally important is, taking into account that Brancusi is a universal artist, the father of modern sculpture, to ensure that the Brancusi Year resonates at international level,' Manager of the 'Constantin Brancusi' National Museum in Targu Jiu Denisa Suta told AGERPRES on Monday.
