HealtMin Rogobete talks with Spanish counterpart on development of specialist outpatient clinics, community medical centres
Minister of Health Alexandru Rogobete discussed on Thursday with his Spanish counterpart Monica Garcia Gomez about topics such as the development of outpatient clinics and community medical centers, as well as the role of the family doctor within these structures.
The two dignitaries also carried out talks regarding mental health services and the organization of some efficient prevention strategies for addictions.
'An important point of discussions was the reform of the on-call system, a sensible, but essential topic. I presented Romania's proposals and analysed the manner in which this system operates in Spain. The version of 12-hour shifts and the existence of the three types of on-call duty - home, monitoring and emergency - confirms that our direction is aligned with the European practices,' Alexandru Rogobete wrote on his Facebook page.
The Health Minister also discussed on Thursday with Commissioner for Mental Health Belen Gonzalez Callado about the reorganization of services at community level.
'The Spanish side provided the strategies used for the development of mental health centers and we will begin a collaboration between the two ministries structured on this topic. In Romania, the 2024-2029 Action Plan for Mental Health is already being implemented and this exchange of practices helps us accelerate the measures which are underway,' Rogobete said.
Moreover, at the meeting with Francisca Sureda Llull, the Spanish Government Delegate for the National Plan on Drugs, Minister Rogobete discussed about prevention, early intervention and the state's responsibility to reach people before addiction becomes a tragedy.
'The strategies used by Spain in combating addictions were made available to us, and cooperation between the two ministries will continue in a concrete manner. I invited the Spanish side to join our working groups for the drafting of the first National Strategy for Combating Addictions, also drawing on the Spanish model,' the minister added.
