Romania's National Day celebrated in 24 countries through cultural events organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute

The Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) is organizing events celebrating Romania's National Day in 24 countries, an opportunity to showcase the cultural heritage and young creators.

Covering a wide range of events, this year's program focuses on classical music, with concerts dedicated to the George Enescu Year, alongside exhibitions, film screenings, and a theater performance, ICR said in a release.

* The Madrigal - Marin Constantin National Chamber Choir led by Anna Ungureanu is touring Spain with performances at the Almudena Cathedral and the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, following its debut concert at the Mosque-Cathedral in Córdoba.

At the same time, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Madrid is hosting the tribute exhibition 'Marin Constantin 100' (November 27 - January 15, 2026), featuring paintings, sculptures, stage costumes, and visual history elements of the choir.

* In Barcelona, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Madrid and Romania's Consulate General are presenting the photo-documentary exhibition 'Queen Marie and Spain' at the El Born Centre de Cultura i Memoria. Curated by historian Anca-Beatrice Todireanu, the exhibition features 12 panels highlighting Queen Marie's complex personality, alongside images from her 1929 diary and her visit to Spanish cities, including Barcelona, during the Universal Exhibition.

* Between November 29 and December 5, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Madrid and Romania's Consulate General in Valencia will present the photo exhibition 'Romania's Treasures - UNESCO Heritage in Romania' by artist Tudorel Ilie in Castellón de la Plana.
In Palma de Mallorca, ICR Madrid, together with local partners, is staging the 15th edition of the Romanian Film Festival from December 3 to 17. Opening on Romania's National Day with Bogdan Muresanu's 'The New Year That Never Was', the program continues with Ana Maria Comanescu's 'Horia' on December 10 and Andrei Ujica's 'TWST / Things We Said Today' on December 17.

* In Girona, the Romanian Cultural Institute Madrid and the Consulate General of Romania in Barcelona present the exhibition 'Traditional Romanian Village. People and Crafts' by photographer Sorin Onisor.

* The exhibition 'Wild Romania', signed by Dan Dinu is on display at the Convento de la Merced Museum in Ciudad Real from November 18 to December 14. The project was organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Madrid together with Romania's Consulate in Ciudad Real.

* The 'George Enescu' Philharmonic Orchestra in Bucharest will perform in two extraordinary concerts at the 'Karol Szymanowski' Philharmonic in Krakow on November 30, and at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, on December 1, in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute Warsaw. The concerts conclude the Romania - Poland Cultural Season and mark Romania's National Day.

*The Raro-SoNoRo ensemble will perform on December 4th on the famous Weill Recital stage of Carnegie Hall in New York, with the sponsorship of the Romanian Cultural Institute New York.

* The Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, together with Romania's Consulate General in Vancouver and the Vancouver International Film Festival, is launching the first Romanian Film Festival in Vancouver from December 1 - 4 at the VIFF Center.

The festival opens on Romania's National Day on December 1 with Bogdan Mureaanu's 'The New Year That Never Was', followed by a diverse selection of recent titles that showcase contemporary Romanian cinema, including Teodora Ana Mihai's 'Traffic', Adelina Suvagau's 'Box of Freedom', Mihai Mincan's 'Milk Teeth', Lina Vdovii & Radu Ciorniciuc's 'Tata', Tudor Giurgiu's 'Nasty', and Igor Cobileanschi's 'Comatogen'.

* On the occasion of Romania's National Day, but also to mark 115 years of diplomatic ties between Romania and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Brussels, the Romanian Embassy in Luxembourg and the Representation of the International Organization of La Francophonie in Brussels bring the performance of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's 'The Little Prince' featuring actors Oana Pellea and Lari Giorgescu to the Mierscher Theater.

* The Accademia di Romania in Rome and the Consulate General of Romania in Bari, in partnership with the Tasuleasa Social Association, with the support of the Regional Directorate of Museums in Puglia and the Bari City Hall propose the photo exhibition 'Via Transilvanica - The Road that Unites', the story of the longest hiking trail in Romania. The exhibition will open on December 4, at Castello Svevo di Bari.

* The Pitesti Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will perform on November 29 at 6:00 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Candiani Cultural Center in Venezia Mestre, at the invitation of the Romanian Institute of Culture and Humanistic Research in Venice.

* On December 1, the Romanian Embassy in Nicosia will host a festive concert at the Royal Hall, featuring singer Corina Sirghi and pianist Sergiu Tuhutiu. The program blends Romanian interwar music with jazz influences and modern reinterpretations of local traditions.

* The Romanian Embassy in Riga will host on December 1 'The Most Beautiful Tango' recital at the historic Maza Gilde Concert Hall. The performance features tenor Daniel Magdal, accompanied by pianist Alexandru Burca.

* The Romanian Embassy in the Republic of Slovenia is organizing a gala performance at the Ljubljana Philharmonic. The event scheduled for December 2 will highlight the artistic excellence of the Bucharest National Opera Ballet.

* The Romania National Day event in Prague will take place at the Kaiserstein Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

* The Romanian Embassy in Norway will celebrate the National Day on December 1 with a reception at Den Gamle Krigsskole in Oslo. The evening opens with a recital by MoldoDuo - flutist Stefan Diaconu and accordionist Radu Ratoi - presenting a repertoire inspired by the shared cultural traditions of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, reinterpreted in a contemporary and refined style.

* The Romanian Cultural Institute in Tokyo, the Romanian Embassy in Japan and the Romanian Union of Musicians organized two recitals by pianist Madalina Pasol and tenor Liviu Indricau on November 27 and 28, at the embassy seat.

* On December 1, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Beijing will host an extraordinary recital by violinist Diana Jipa and pianist Toma Popovici at the Beijing International Club, starting at 6:00 p.m. The concert will be preceded by 'George Enescu - 70', a recital by the same musicians at the ICR Beijing headquarters in Galaxy SOHO.

* The Romanian Cultural Institute marks Romania's National Day and 145 years of diplomatic relations between France and Romania on December 1, at the Paris City Hall, with a short musical moment and the Romanian and French anthems performed by soprano Iana Novac and tenor Octavian Dobrota, in the opening of the 'Women in Economy' Gala.

* On December 2, the 'Dimitrie Cantemir' Romanian Cultural Institute in Istanbul will mark Romania's National Day with a recital at the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua. The performance features Romanian Chamber Orchestra musicians Theodor Andreescu (violin), Cristian Andris (viola), and Darius Tereu (cello).

* The Romanian Cultural Institute in London continues the tradition of celebrating Romania's National Day through an exceptional musical event from the Enescu Concerts series, a landmark program in the British cultural landscape. Mezzo-soprano Adriana Festeu and pianist Cristian Sandrin will give a recital on December 4 at the ICR London headquarters, offering a musical journey through the history and national spirit.

* To mark Romania's National Day and 115 years of diplomatic relations, the 'Titu Maiorescu' Romanian Cultural Institute in Berlin, together with the Romanian Embassy and partner institutions, is staging a series of cultural events. Following the November concert of the Târgu Mures State Philharmonic at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, the program continues with a recital by the Furiant Quartet, led by violinist Vlad Popescu, at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on December 4. On December 5, Kino Krokodil will host the screening of George Grigoriu's documentary 'The Crown of Romania', marking 150 years since Queen Marie's birth, accompanied by an exhibition of photographs and historical documents organized with the Bran National Museum and the Ethnography Museum of Brasov.

* In Chisinau, Romania's National Day will be celebrated with a pop music concert. Tania Turtureanu from the Republic of Moldova will take to the stage of the 'Mihai Eminescu' National Theatre with members of her band on December 5, at the invitation of the Romanian Embassy and the 'Mihai Eminescu' Romanian Cultural Institute in Chisinau.

* On National Day, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Budapest invited the Romanian Chamber Orchestra String Quartet to perform at the National Dance Theater (Nemzeti Tancszinhaz) within the Millenaris Cultural Complex. The event held on November 26 was organized in partnership with the Romanian Embassy in Hungary.

* The Romanian Cultural Institute in Stockholm and the Romanian Embassy in the Kingdom of Sweden marked Romania's National Day, as well as the 70th anniversary of the death of George Enescu (1881-1955) with a recital by soloists of the 'George Enescu' Philharmonic Orchestra in Botosani. The event took place on November 27 at the Baroque Hall of the Stockholm History Museum - Historiska Museet.

* The Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv organized on November 27, in honor of Romania's National Day, a recital of klezmer and Balkan music by the Tlevki Band, at the Rabin Center in Tel Aviv.
