BraveX Aero Romanian drone manufacturer signs partnership with Uniq Things UG
BraveX Aero, a Romanian manufacturer of long-range fixed-wing drones, has signed a strategic partnership with Uniq Things UG, a German technology company specialising in autonomous coordination and swarm drone software.
According to a press release of the Romanian manufacturer, the swarm technology enables the simultaneous deployment of multiple drones, enhancing situational awareness and response capabilities for surveillance and reconnaissance missions. At the same time, it significantly reduces operating costs by centralising the control of multiple drones, allowing a single operator to manage the entire fleet.
Under this partnership, BraveX will provide Uniq Things with access to its fixed-wing aircraft platforms to develop, test, and validate an autonomous multi-drone coordination solution. The initiative combines BraveX's aerospace engineering expertise with Uniq Things' advanced swarm coordination technology and marks the launch of a new operational model: 'Swarm-as-a-Service.'
This model aims to provide governments, institutions, and private operators with advanced large-scale drone swarm capabilities, capable of executing complex missions such as: Disaster response: Swarms of drones can quickly cover large areas during floods, earthquakes, or wildfires, providing real-time images and data to support rescue teams in critical situations with limited visibility; Border protection: Fixed-wing drone swarms can monitor extended border areas over prolonged periods, ensuring continuous surveillance and early detection of potential threats; Critical infrastructure protection: Swarms can continuously patrol perimeters around sensitive civilian or military facilities, monitoring airspace for long-range drone threats, such as Shahed or Geran-3 types; Extending communication networks: In areas with poor connectivity or restricted access, long-range fixed-wing drones equipped with communication relays can form secure aerial networks, maintaining reliable connectivity for on-ground intervention teams.
'This collaboration is a natural step in our mission to expand the capabilities of long-range unmanned systems. By combining BraveX's endurance-optimised drones with Uniq Things' advanced software, we are building the foundation for aerial operations that go far beyond what individual drones can achieve,' BraveX Aero CEO and co-founder Razvan Costea-Barlutiu is quoted in the release as saying.
Currently, BraveX drones have a flight endurance of up to four hours, significantly surpassing the typical specifications of multirotor drones, which generally operate under 60 minutes and cover distances of 10-15 kilometres.
Uniq Things brings its advanced swarm coordination and mission-level autonomy technology, enabling real-time collaboration between multiple drones. The system automatically allocates tasks, dynamically adapts to mission conditions, and requires minimal human intervention, forming an intelligent, flexible drone network capable of coordinated and efficient operations.
BraveX aims to become one of Europe's leading industrial drone manufacturers by 2030, specialising in extended autonomy and high-endurance capabilities. The company already operates a production line near Cluj-Napoca and plans to reach an annual delivery volume of 500 units by 2028.
This year, BraveX secured 315,000 euro in funding from investors in the Transylvania Angels Network and plans to attract new specialists and launch a new funding round by early 2026.
The company's client portfolio primarily targets public administrations and institutional operators in Europe, NATO defence sector structures and private security companies, with a focus on civil and defensive applications. International markets of interest include Europe, Africa, Canada and South America. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Nicoleta Gherasi; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
