Behavioural analysis and lie detection, preferred courses at Schengen Training Multifunctional Centre in Buzau
The Schengen Training Multifunctional Centre (CMPS) is preparing to train over 4,100 participants in the 2025-2026 academic year, amid a high level of interest, with the most sought-after programmes being those related to behavioural analysis and lie detection.
According to CMPS, the course schedule was drawn up based on the training needs of the beneficiary institutions, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF), the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) and the Romanian Customs Authority (AVR).
'A total of 5,164 requests were submitted for the 2025-2026 'Course Offer', but given the institutional capacity available, CMPS will run 113 training programmes during this period, organised into 256 series, totalling 4,175 trainees. As for the most requested training modules, it is worth noting that for nearly every training course offered, demand exceeded our capacity. Fields such as digital forensic searches, behavioural analysis and lie detection, as well as digital skills development, have proven the most appealing to personnel from law enforcement structures in this academic year,' CMPS representatives told AGERPRES.
In the context of Romania's first auditing mission as a full member of the Schengen Area, the institution announced an evaluation visit of the Centre's educational facilities by a delegation from the European Commission.
CMPS is the only educational institution within the MAI that provides professional training services, both theoretical and practical, on Schengen information systems and police cooperation with law enforcement agencies from partner countries.
'Specifically, training sessions on handling alerts in the Schengen Information System, the shared database across the Schengen area, are attended by operational staff from the MAI, ANAF, AVR, SRI and other competent authorities. In addition, established training courses, such as those covering human rights, the prevention of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment, aimed at personnel in police custody units, as well as courses on online fraud or foreign languages for police work, enjoy wide participation, in the context of the increasing diversity and globalisation of crime,' the source added.
