Bucharest, March 20 /Agerpres/ - Romania's humanitarian support and assistance for foreign citizens or stateless persons from the area of the armed conflict in Ukraine will be extended until December 31, 2025.

An emergency ordinance in this regard was approved as a Thursday's meeting of the government.

'This piece of legislation extends until December 31, 2025, the provision of humanitarian support and assistance to foreign citizens or stateless persons from the area of the armed conflict in Ukraine who entered the soil of Romania before July 1, 2024, housed in the locations established by the county/municipality committees of Bucharest for emergencies,' the Romanian government reported on Thursday.

The amount is granted in a differentiated amount: RON 500 /month for a single person and 1,500 lei/month for a family. The amount is settled monthly, from the budget of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Management and, as the case may be, from the budgets/budget of the county emergency management inspectorates/the Bucharest-Ilfov Emergency Management Inspectorate, to the unit that provides the accommodation, proportional to the number of days for which it is provided.

'This support measure can benefit people who prove, with documents issued by relevant authorities in Romania, that they are in certain vulnerable situations (for example: they are classified as disabled; temporarily unable to work or suffering from a temporary medical condition incompatible with employment; are women in the third trimester of pregnancy; suffers from serious medical conditions, etc.).'

The government also passed a decision clarifying the mechanism for granting lump sums. Thus, it is expressly specified the possibility of requesting the lump sum by foreign citizens or stateless persons from the area of armed conflict in Ukraine who obtained the temporary protection permit before July 1, 2024 and who have never submitted an application.

The amount is granted for three consecutive months, in a differentiated amount: RON 750 /month for a single person and 2,000 lei/month for a family.

Qualifying for this aid are people submitting an application to the local public administration authority of the administrative-territorial unit/subdivision in the area in which they choose to live and who cumulatively meet several conditions.

Thus, the applicant and his/her family members who meet the conditions to be employed in Romania must be registered with one of the county employment agencies or of the City of Bucharest or be employed on in Romania. At the same time, the applicant must also enrol the children who meet the conditions to attend a form of pre-university education, in study groups/classes/formations in pre-university education establishments.( EUR 1 = RON 4.97) AGERPRES (RO - editing by: Irinela Visan; EN - writing by: Corneliu-Aurelian Colceriu)
