Young Ukrainian citizen rescued from the Romanian mountains after falling into a stream
Bucharest, Mar 18 - /Agerpres/ - The Ukrainian citizen who crossed the border through the Maramures Mountains into Romania and asked for help was found stuck in a mountain stream, the head of the Maramures County Public Mountain Rescue Service (SPJ), Dan Benga, informs on Tuesday.
'The 28-year-old Ukrainian was found. He is alive, he was in a stream from which he could not get out, but the most important thing is that he is alive. The mountain rescuers checked him from a medical point of view, gave him hot tea and food and are preparing him for extraction. Once they reach the base of the mountain, a medical team will evaluate him again, and later the Ukrainian will be taken over by the relevant authorities who will carry out the specific procedures in such cases,' said Dan Benga.
According to him, the recovery and extraction mission from the mountain lasted over 12 hours, in a difficult environment, with the mountain rescuers being supported by a border police crew from the Poienile de sub Munte rural town.
