Pro-European rally in Victoriei Square

Several thousand people are participating on Saturday evening in a pro-European rally in Victoriei Square in Bucahrest, and in this context, traffic restrictions have been imposed.
The Traffic Brigade announced that, for safe traffic management, traffic restrictions have been imposed on Pavel D. Kiseleff Road, from the Arch of Triumph to Victoriei Square, and on Aviators Boulevard, from the Aviators' Statue to Victoriei Square.
The demonstration is organised by EuRoManifest, along with Comunitatea Declic, Rezistenta and Coruptia Ucide, and is presented as a peaceful gathering in solidarity for the respect of European values.
Comunitatea Declic announced that, along with those present in Victoriei Square, they will organise a 'choreography' with the message 'Our heart is in Europe.' To create the choreography, 2,000 people will light white paper sheets with the flashlights of their phones, and another 10,000 will light blue sheets.
'Any desire to move Romania away from the European Union would coincide directly with turning towards the Russian Federation, which would annul decades of efforts made by millions of Romanians for democracy and prosperity, for freedom and equal opportunities. Romanians have, over time, joined, not just formally, but also morally, the foundational pillars of the European Union: freedom, democracy, the rule of law, peace and respect for human rights,' the organisers said before the event.
According to them, the demonstration is organised legally, by notifying the Bucharest City Hall and law enforcement authorities.
Similar demonstrations are also organised on Saturday evening in Timisoara, Brasov and Oradea, with similar events taking place throughout the day in London, Dublin, in Italy and in Brussels. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Oana Ghita; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
