Bucharest, Jan 20 /Agerpres/ - Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR) Chairman George Simion is in Washington, where he will participate in the events marking Donald Trump's presidential inauguration, AUR said in a release, adding that Simion was invited to the U.S. in his capacity as vice-president of the European Conservatives and Reformists Party (ECR) and AUR leader.

'Allegations about money having paid for the participation in these events are false, and are part of a disinformation spread by certain media trusts,' the AUR release states.

On Saturday, January 18, George Simion attended the first-ever Republican-centric Official Hispanic Inaugural Ball, the cited source mentioned.

On January 14, George Simion was unanimously elected vice-president of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Party at the political formation's congress meeting in Brussels. AGERPRES (RO - editor: Catalina Matei; EN - editor: Simona Klodnischi)
