Romania, Tunisia conclude strategic partnership in the IT&C, agriculture, food industry, green energy fields
Romania's capital city Bucharest is hosting, between September 21 and 24, 2025, an economic mission aimed at strengthening economic ties between Romania and Tunisia and creating new partnership opportunities, ANSVSA (National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority) on Monday announced on its Facebook page.
The main sectors of interest are IT&C and digital, agriculture and agri-food, healthcare (pharmaceutical products and medical technologies), automotive components, renewable energies, textiles and tourism.
Thus, the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB) hosted the opening of the Tunisian-Romanian Bilateral Economic Forum on Monday, September 22, 2025, which is organized by CONECT International, in collaboration with the Embassy of Tunisia in Romania, the Embassy of Romania in Tunisia, FIPA, CEPEX and CCIB.
In attendance were the president of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority, Alexandru Bociu, along with a delegation of specialists from the institution, as well as high-ranking officials, including the minister of economy, digitalisation, entrepreneurship and tourism, Radu Miruta, the ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to Romania, Sami Nagga, the ambassador of Romania to Tunisia, Valentin Muntean, and the president of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Iuliu Stocklosa.
During the event, the president of the ANSVSA, underscored the importance of opening and maintaining international markets for Romanian products.
'Now, more than ever, the trade possibilities of a state, as unlimited as they seem, are as versatile, requiring permanent support efforts. Currently, Romania carries out trade with more than 100 countries around the world and I want to assure you that in ANSVSA you have a real partner in terms of trading possibilities on the world market, and our institutional efforts are permanent,' stated Bociu, quoted in the post.
The economic mission's programme includes an economic forum, B2B meetings with key players on the Romanian market, visits to companies and industrial units, as well as networking activities with the Tunisian diaspora in Romania.
According to the same source, economic relations between Romania and Tunisia are continuously developing. Tunisian exports to Romania increased from 85 million US dollars in 2018 to 114 million US dollars in 2023, and Romania's exports to Tunisia reached 146 million US dollars in 2024.
'These figures highlight a significant growth potential, especially in the agri-food, automotive components, pharmaceuticals, textiles and IT&C fields. The forum represents an essential platform for strengthening the strategic partnership between Romania and Tunisia, facilitating access to the European market and the development of joint projects,' the ANSVSA post also states.
